He is the winner of the 1992 Daytona 500.Davey Allison. son of Legendary Driver, Bobby Allison. Davey, a 1992 Daytona 500 winner and Daytona 500 runner up behind his Dad Bobby in 1988, had 21 career victories, his last coming on March 7, 1993 in Richmond Va. Later in the year, Davey lost his life tragically one July afternoon when the helicopter he was piloting suddenly crashed while trying to land at Talladega Speedway. Davey was flying in to be with NeilBonnett when Neil announced his come back to racing.

Neil Bonnett 1946 - 1994
Neil was born on July 30, 1946 in Hueytown,AL. He was a top runner during the late 70s thru the late 80s. Injuries cut his career short and he turned to the booth. As a race commentator for TNN and CBS Neil was the best.  But he always said he would rather be racing. He returned, after an absence of
three years, to racing on the track. He ran two races in 1993. He had signed on for a limited run in 1994.  In Just 362 starts, Neil had 20 poles, 18 wins and $3.86 million in prize money.  But he left us tragically on February 11th, 1994.  While practicing for the Daytona 500 Neil`s car suddenly struck the 4th turn wall at 190 mph. Drivers following Neil on the track  that day reported, it appeared that a gust of wind had  triggered the accident .  In a service for Neil it was said, "Davey died coming to be with Neil, now Neil is going to be with Davey ".

Elmo Langley 1928 - 1996

Elmo Langley

Former Winston Cup driver , car owner and , most recently , NASCAR pace car driver Elmo Langley died of a heart attack while taking laps at the Suzuka Curcuit in Japan . Buddy Baker was in the pace car as a passenger and said  that Langley had just cut some very fast turns when suddenly the car slowed . Elmo Langley , who was 68 and had a history of heart trouble , died without pain . And given the speed at which he was cutting laps , it`s almost certain that he died with a smile on his face .
